Zarzis Municipality (Governorate of Médenine) Launches Installation of 400 Energy‑Efficient Streetlights
The municipality of Zarzis has just kicked off a project to install 400 energy‑saving public‑lighting fixtures across the city.
According to the town hall’s Secretary‑General, Aberraouf El Hamdani, 100 of the new LED lamps will be mounted along El Mouansa Road, heading toward El Farabi College, as well as on the streets of Alger and the Canal area.
This first‑of‑its‑kind initiative, carried out in partnership with the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME), aims to:
- Reduce electricity consumption by leveraging low‑power LED technology.
- Improve the quality of public illumination, providing brighter, more uniform lighting for residents and visitors.
- Enhance road safety, decreasing accidents and improving visibility for drivers and pedestrians.
The project underscores Zarzis’s commitment to sustainable urban development and aligns with Tunisia’s broader goals for energy efficiency and safer public spaces.
