May 6, 2023

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the appointment of Tunisian referee Haythem Guirat to oversee the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in the return leg of the Confederation Cup final between Zamalek SC (Egypt) and USM Alger (Algeria). The decisive match is scheduled to take place on May 16 at the Cairo International Stadium.

For this mission, Guirat will be assisted in the VAR room by Mauritian Maria Rivet and Cameroonian Carine Fomo. On the pitch, the central refereeing duties have been entrusted to Gabonese Pierre Atcho, who will be assisted by his compatriots Boris Ditsoga (first assistant) and Amous Ndong (second assistant), while Patrick Mbiame will officiate as the fourth referee.

For the first leg, scheduled to take place on May 9 at the 5-July-1962 Stadium in Algiers, the CAF's arbitration committee has chosen Mauritanian Dahane Beida as the referee. He will be assisted by Angolan Jerson Emiliano Dos Santos and Cameroonian Elvis Noupue. Mauritanian Abdel Aziz Bouh will occupy the position of fourth referee.

As for the VAR for this first leg, it will be overseen by Ghanaian Daniel Laryea, assisted by Mauritanian Baida Dahane (subject to confirmation, generally assisted by Beida or a dedicated panel) and Kenyan Mimasia Dickens.
