Second Death from West Nile Virus Recorded in Zaghouan Region
A second death due to the West Nile virus has been reported in the Zaghouan region. According to a confirmed medical source from the regional hospital, cited by Jawhara FM radio, the victim, a man in his sixties from the El Hanaya 2 neighborhood in the city of Zaghouan, passed away on Thursday night after several weeks of battling the disease. He had been admitted to intensive care since August, following a mosquito bite from stagnant water near his home. This death brings the total number of victims in the Zaghouan governorate to two since the appearance of the virus. The first fatal case was recorded in July in the town of Fahs. Health authorities are calling for vigilance and reminding people of the importance of preventing the proliferation of mosquitoes, particularly by eliminating areas of stagnant water, which are the main sources of contamination.
