Regional Vaccination Campaign for Cats and Dogs Against Rabies Continues in Zaghouan Governorate
The regional vaccination campaign for cats and dogs against rabies is ongoing in all delegations of the Zaghouan governorate. Since its launch on September 2, 1,724 animals have been vaccinated, representing over 12% of the 14,000 vaccinations planned over a period of two months, according to Ridha Guesmi, head of the animal production department at the regional agricultural directorate.
Campaign Implementation
The campaign is being carried out by veterinarians and technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture, divided into six teams, one per delegation. To facilitate vaccination, five permanent vaccination centers have been set up in the seats of the agricultural guidance cells in:
- Nadhour
- Fahs
- Zriba
- Bir Mcherga
- The headquarters of the animal production department in Zaghouan
Disease Prevention Efforts
The official assured that no cases of rabies have been recorded among domestic cats or dogs so far. He also specified that security services, in coordination with municipalities, are continuing campaigns to capture stray dogs to prevent the spread of the disease.
