The Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, launched the construction of the fifth industrial unit of the South Korean group Yura Corporation in the Kairouan 2 industrial zone on Tuesday, December 2. This new investment, estimated at over 50 million dinars, marks a major milestone in the development of the automotive component sector in Tunisia and is expected to generate over 2,000 new jobs.

Present in Tunisia since 2007, Yura Corporation has already established four industrial units in Kairouan and plans to create a sixth unit in Metbasta by 2026. With all its Tunisian sites, the group aims to reach 8,500 jobs in the coming years. During the ceremony, which was attended by the Governor of Kairouan Dhaker Bargaoui, the Ambassador of South Korea Lee Tae-won, the CEO of the group Park Dongil, and the General Manager of the Tunisian subsidiary Kim Jong Gu, the Minister highlighted that this project confirms Tunisia's attractiveness for high-tech investments and strengthens its position in the global automotive industry chain.

The CEO of the group, Park Dongil, stated that Tunisia constitutes a strategic center connecting North Africa and Europe, offering an ideal location for the production of automotive components. He expressed his confidence in the skills of the Tunisian workforce, capable of providing products that meet the most demanding international standards. He specified that the new unit will integrate the most advanced technologies in the sector. Active in 15 countries through 22 factories, Yura Corporation supplies several global manufacturers, including Hyundai, Kia, and Mercedes. The new unit in Kairouan will produce electrical harnesses for these international brands, thus strengthening Tunisia's role in the production of automotive components for export.
