Tunisian Lawyer to File Lawsuit Over Citizen's Murder in Marseille
Lawyer Mounir Ben Salha announced on Friday that he has decided to take legal action regarding the murder of a Tunisian citizen in the French city of Marseille, along with four other Tunisian lawyers, considering the murder as "unjustified and premeditated".
During a phone intervention on the "Sabah El Ward" show on Jawhara FM, Ben Salha explained that he is currently in Marseille with the lawyers to file the complaint in the early afternoon, emphasizing that the French police had a duty to protect the Tunisian citizen, knowing that he was in a state of strong agitation after being violently assaulted.
Ben Salha stressed that the Tunisian community in France is currently facing a campaign of hate and racism resulting from a past mentality, specifying that they will turn to international justice on this matter later. Ben Salha also claimed that parties and lobbies from within Tunisia and France have attempted to hinder the team of lawyers and prevent them from filing the complaint, highlighting that the statement from the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has created confusion in the French media.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated yesterday in a statement that following the murder of Tunisian citizen Abdelkader Dhibi on September 2, 2025, in Marseille, and on the instruction of the President of the Republic, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad summoned the interim chargé d'affaires at the French Embassy in Tunis, in the absence of the Tunisian ambassador abroad, to convey a strong protest regarding the murder by members of the French police.
The Secretary of State asked the interim French chargé d'affaires to inform his authorities that Tunisia considers this incident as an unjustified murder and that it expects from the French side all firmness and speed in the investigation and determination of responsibilities, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Furthermore, Tunisia intends to take all necessary measures to preserve the rights of the deceased and his family and to bring them justice. Additionally, the President of the Republic has given instructions to the Tunisian ambassador in Paris to convey the same Tunisian position to the French authorities and to take the necessary measures in coordination with the consulate general in Marseille to accelerate the transfer of the deceased's body to Tunisia as soon as possible.
