Increase in Continuity Bonus for Resident and Intern Doctors in Tunisia
A decree published on Thursday in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic provides for an increase, starting from October 2025, in the continuity bonus paid to resident and intern doctors. This is decree No. 406 of the year 2025, which amends decree No. 318 of 2001 fixing the conditions for granting and the amount of this bonus for medical and paramedical personnel of university hospitals and care, as well as for hospital doctors of public structures under the Ministry of Public Health, including residents and interns in medicine, pharmacy, and dental surgery.
According to the new decree:
- The continuity bonus for residents and interns in category "A" in hospitals will be 120 dinars and 88 dinars.
- The bonus for residents and interns in category "B" will reach 80 dinars and 64 dinars.
The president of the Tunisian Organization of Young Doctors, Wajih Dhakar, welcomed this decision. He recalled that this agreement was concluded during a negotiation session on July 3, 2025, with representatives of the Ministry of Health, after a series of protest movements led by young doctors to defend their professional demands.
In a statement to the TAP, Dhakar emphasized that this measure will allow for an increase of 40 dinars in the continuity bonus for all categories of young doctors, thus strengthening their financial support and recognizing their commitment to public hospital structures.
