World Tourism Day Celebrated in Bizerte Under the Theme "Tourism and Sustainable Transition"

The regional tourism delegation of Bizerte marked World Tourism Day (celebrated yesterday, Saturday) under the theme "Tourism and Sustainable Transition". The event took place in the El-Ababsa region, within the delegation of Sejnane.

Organized in partnership with the handicraft delegation, local authorities, and civil society, this event is directly in line with the national strategy to strengthen the place of the tourism sector in the region's global and sustainable development, as highlighted by Sofiene Ben Salhine, Regional Tourism Delegate in Bizerte.

Sejnane Pottery and Heritage: Handicrafts in the Spotlight

The event was an opportunity to highlight the region's cultural richness. A handicraft exhibition particularly showcased the famous pottery of Sejnane, recognized worldwide and proudly inscribed on UNESCO's intangible heritage list.

In addition to handicrafts, the program gave pride of place to Sejnane's culinary heritage with the presentation of traditional dishes. An exhibition of essential oils typical of the local terroir also enriched the event, highlighting the diversity of regional products.

Ecotourism and Innovation: The El-Ababsa Guest House

A highlight of the celebration was the discovery of the guest house in El-Ababsa. This site is a successful example of an eco-tourism project that respects the environment, having already gained regional, national, and international recognition.

This project perfectly illustrates the theme of sustainable transition and the region of Bizerte's ability, particularly Sejnane, to develop authentic and responsible tourism.
