Tunisia Wins Two Medals at the World Karate Kyokushinkai Championships in Saudi Arabia
Tunisia has won two medals at the World Karate Kyokushinkai Championships held in Saudi Arabia last weekend, thanks to its athletes Abderrahman Dridi and Rakia Mounacer. The 19-year-old national team athlete, Abderrahman Dridi, won the gold medal in the senior category, under 90 kg, while the 20-year-old athlete Rakia Mounacer won the silver medal in the senior category, under 65 kg. This fifth edition of the Championship saw the participation of powerful teams, including Kazakhstan, Russia, Iraq, Poland, and Lebanon. Abderrahman Dridi, affiliated with the police school of Sousse, is considered a rising star in Karate Kyokushinkai, having accumulated a series of successes at the Arab and global levels. He was the World Champion in 2023 in Bulgaria in the youth category (16-17 years), all weight categories combined, before obtaining second place at the 2024 World Championship in Bulgaria in the category (18-21 years), over 85 kg, where he also won the Best Technician award. Dridi has also won the Arab Championship in 2023 and the title of International Championship twice. At the national level, he has been crowned Tunisian Champion more than 18 times and has won the Tunisian Championship in the "Low Kick" discipline, in addition to winning third place in Kata at the Arab Championship. As for athlete Rakia Mounacer, also affiliated with the police school of Sousse, she has won the title of Tunisian Champion more than 22 times, in addition to obtaining several distinctions. The most recent was her silver medal at the Junior World Championship held in Bulgaria in July 2025, where she was also awarded the Best Fighting Spirit award thanks to her exceptional performance.
