Over 550,000 Japanese and International Visitors Flock to National Pavilion at Expo 2025
The Tunisian pavilion at the Expo 2025, held from April 13 to October 13, 2025, in Osaka, Japan, has attracted over 550,000 visitors from Japan and around the world, according to Mourad Ben Hassine, Commissioner General of Tunisia to the expo and CEO of CEPEX.
In a statement to the TAP agency on Thursday, Ben Hassine highlighted that the 300-square-meter Tunisian pavilion showcases the country's rich cultural, civilizational, and traditional heritage, reflecting the nation's cultural wealth. The national pavilion's concept focuses on three main components: optimal water resource management, food heritage and local products, and advancements in science and medicine.
"The pavilion has welcomed between 3,000 and 4,000 visitors daily since the expo's opening on April 13, serving as a bridge between Tunisian and Japanese cultures," he stated.
Ben Hassine also emphasized that, in addition to the exhibition space, Tunisia's participation has been marked by key events, including the Tunisian National Day held on August 13, 2025, which was attended by Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh. This event showcased Tunisia's cultural, historical, and gastronomic heritage. Another notable event was the Tunisia Economic Day, held on August 18, 2025, just before the TICAD 9 Conference in Japan.
Themed "Japan-Tunisia: Transfer of Green Technologies for Well-being, Human Security, and Shared Sustainable Development," the Tunisia Economic Day brought together economic operators, representatives of professional organizations, and Japanese experts, as well as a Tunisian delegation comprising representatives of investment structures (FIPA, TIA, Sousse Competitiveness Pole, etc.). This event aimed to strengthen cooperation prospects between Tunisia and Japan, particularly in the fields of clean energy and green transition, and promote a shared vision for sustainable, equitable, and mutually beneficial development within the framework of a triangular partnership with African countries.
Tunisia also participated in a thematic week on thermal tourism, starting from June 25, 2025, which enabled discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation in this area. Furthermore, the country will take part in a second thematic week, starting from September 25, 2025, focused on the concept "OVOP: One Village, One Product," a local development initiative launched in Japan in 1979 that highlights local products and skills.
