The national team coach, Sami Trabelsi, has called up player Mohamed Amine Cherni, who plays in the Turkish championship with Göztepe, to reinforce the Tunisian national football team. This call-up comes as part of the ongoing preparation stage for the matches against the teams of São Tomé and Principe and Namibia, scheduled for October 10 and 13 at the Hamadi Agrebi stadium in Radès. These encounters count for the ninth and tenth days of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
According to the official page of the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF), Mohamed Amine Cherni's call-up follows the injury of Mortadha Ben Ouanès, a player for Kasımpaşa (Turkey), whom he replaces. It's worth noting that the Tunisian national team had already validated its ticket to the World Cup from the seventh day, thanks to its 1-0 victory away against Equatorial Guinea.
