Workshop on Implementing the Tunisian National Olympic Committee’s Strategic Plan

“Women, Sport and Olympism: Toward a Healthy and Balanced Society” (2026‑2028)

On the occasion of the workshop dedicated to the implementation of the Tunisian National Olympic Committee (CNOT) strategic plan “Women, Sport and Olympism: for a healthy and balanced society” for the 2026‑2028 period, CNOT President Mehrez Boussayene highlighted the importance of the work carried out by the Women, Sport and Gender Equality Commission and the relevance of the adopted strategic directions.

Key Messages from the President

  • Strengthening Female Leadership
    Boussayene stressed the need to boost women’s leadership within sports governing bodies by establishing mechanisms that facilitate women’s access to positions of responsibility.

  • Creating a National Database for Women’s Sport
    He called for the development of a national database dedicated to women’s sport in Tunisia. This tool will support future policies and guide the sector’s growth using modern scientific approaches, including digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

  • Call for Collective Mobilisation
    Addressing representatives of sports federations, experts from ESPRIT University, former champions, and journalists present, the president urged all stakeholders to mobilise in order to ensure the success of this initiative.

Context

The workshop was organised to coincide with International Women’s Rights Day, celebrated each year on 8 March. Its aim is to:

  • Reinforce the role of women in the sports movement.
  • Position sport as a lever for progress and social cohesion.
