The Tunisian para-athletics team made a remarkable start to the Open de Suisse, a wheelchair racing event held in Arbon, Switzerland, securing four medals on the first day of competition. The team's impressive performance has set the tone for the rest of the tournament.
Gold Medal Winners
Tunisian para-athlete Yassine Gharbi, a Paralympic champion, won two gold medals in the 400m (T54) and 1500m (T54) events. Gharbi clocked 46.17 seconds in the 400m event and completed the 1500m distance in 2:54.45.
Bronze Medal Winners
Walid Ktila secured the bronze medal in the 400m (T34) event with a time of 51.27 seconds, while Mohamed Nidhal Khelifi won the bronze medal in the 400m (T53) event with a time of 51.42 seconds.
Upcoming Events
The competition will continue on Sunday with the participation of the Tunisian athletes. Yassine Gharbi will compete in the 800m (T54) event, while Nidhal Khelifi will participate in the 800m and 100m (T53) events. Walid Ktila will also compete in the 800m and 100m (T34) events.
The Tunisian para-athletes will then head to the Meeting de Nottwil in Switzerland, which is part of the Grand Prix de para-athlétisme, scheduled to take place from May 21 to 23.
