Updated Weather Vigilance Map Assigns Yellow Alert to All Regions of Tunisia
Date: Tuesday
The National Meteorological Institute (INM) updated its vigilance map on Tuesday, assigning a yellow alert to every region of the country due to the expected weather disturbances.
What the INM reports
- Rainfall: Temporary, sometimes intense thunderstorms with occasional hail in isolated spots.
- Wind: Strong gusts that can briefly exceed 80 km/h during the storms.
- Local phenomena: Sand‑related events are forecast for the southern areas.
What a Yellow Vigilance Means
According to the INM, a yellow vigilance level calls for heightened attention when carrying out activities that are sensitive to weather risks.
The vigilance system is designed to:
- Inform the public and authorities about potentially dangerous meteorological phenomena in Tunisia.
- Highlight the hazards of the current weather situation and outline the precautions needed to stay safe.
- Alert civil‑security services and health authorities so they can mobilise response teams, medical professionals, and health facilities as required.
How the Vigilance Map Works
- The map is refreshed at least twice daily (07:00 h and 17:00 h).
- It indicates whether any governorate (province) faces a weather threat within the next 24 hours.
Stay tuned to official INM updates and follow recommended safety measures during this yellow alert.
