Tunisia Experiences Unstable Weather Pattern
Tunisia is currently going through a phase of atmospheric instability that is expected to continue over the next few days, with occasional intense thunderstorms, according to the predictions of Amer Bahba, a geography expert and climate specialist.
In an interview on Jawhara FM on Wednesday, the researcher explained that this situation is linked to "convective rains", typical of the transition period between spring and summer. These phenomena are characterized by the rapid formation of thunderstorm clouds that can lead to locally abundant precipitation.
Short-Term Forecast
In the short term, cloudy weather is expected to affect primarily the Gulf of Tunis and the Cap Bon region. Heavy thunderstorms, sometimes sustained, are forecasted for the afternoon, particularly in the regions of Kef, Siliana, and Kasserine. Precipitation is expected to spread to the southwest and southeast of the country, affecting Sidi Bouzid, Gafsa, Tozeur, Kébili, and Gabès.
Peak Instability Expected on Friday
The peak of this instability is expected on Friday, with an extension of disturbances to most regions in the west, from Jendouba to Gafsa, as well as to certain areas in the center and coastal regions. Intense rainfall over short periods is forecasted, accompanied by hail of varying sizes.
Risk of Flash Floods
In this context, a risk of flash floods is also expected due to the daily thermal effects that favor sudden and abundant precipitation.
Call for Vigilance
In light of these conditions, Amer Bahba calls for vigilance, particularly in mountainous areas and western regions, which are particularly exposed to the risks of lightning and sudden meteorological changes.
