The National Road Safety Observatory called on road users to exercise maximum caution on Saturday due to significant weather disruptions forecasted for Saturday evening and Sunday.
Weather Conditions and Risks
The weather conditions predict a high risk of heavy rainfall that may cause flooding and traffic difficulties in the southern regions, as well as in the central and northwest parts of the country, with possible hail showers.
Recommendations for Road Users
The Observatory recommends that drivers of vehicles and motorcycles:
- Reduce their speed
- Increase safety distances
- Check the condition of their vehicles
- Avoid attempting to cross flooded wadis or roads
Additional Safety Precautions
In its statement, the Observatory also urges road users to:
- Turn on their headlights
- Pedestrians to remain vigilant and keep a safe distance from the edges of roads
Meteorological Update
On its part, the National Meteorological Institute indicated in a follow-up bulletin that the rains will continue on Saturday in the south before spreading to the central and northwest regions. The rains will be temporarily stormy and sometimes intense in certain areas, accompanied by localized hail showers and strong winds that may exceed 80 km/h.
