Active and Intense Low-Pressure System Expected to Hit Tunisia on Friday

A more active and intense low-pressure system is expected to hit Tunisia on Friday, bringing significant amounts of rain and hail to the western regions and border areas, from Kef to Tozeur, according to meteorologist and geography professor Amer Bahba. He warned of the need for vigilance and regular monitoring of weather updates due to the rapid evolution of the situation.

This new disturbance will require particular attention due to its potential intensity, as the country is currently experiencing a period of strong meteorological fluctuations typical of spring. In an interview on Diwan FM radio, the expert noted that several regions in Tunisia are currently experiencing marked atmospheric disturbances, with thunderstorms that are continuing and gradually expanding in geographical scope.

Heavy precipitation has been recorded in the past few hours in the central-west and north-west governorates, particularly in Kasserine, Siliana, and Kef. These thunderstorm cells are now moving towards Béja and Jendouba, where sustained rain and electrical activity are expected.

The movement of cloud masses is from west to east, which could allow residual effects of these disturbances to reach eastern and coastal regions, including Bizerte and Greater Tunis, but with less intensity and generally moderate precipitation.

However, the expert predicts a gradual attenuation of thunderstorm activity from late evening, around 9 PM or 10 PM. Local rain showers remain possible on Thursday, particularly in the afternoon.

Amer Bahba emphasized that these phenomena are part of the usual pattern of convective rains and spring disturbances, characterized by rapid and sometimes unpredictable changes in cloud masses.
