Development of a Specification Document for Four Waste Valorization Units in Ariana, Manouba, Ben Arous, and Tunis Governorates
The development of a specification document for the creation of four waste valorization units in the governorates of Ariana, Manouba, Ben Arous, and Tunis was announced on Monday, October 13, 2025, during a working session chaired by the Minister of Environment, Habib Abid. This meeting also allowed for discussions on the initial technical references, as well as the methods of implementation and monitoring of the project.
Presentation of the Ministry of Environment's Vision
The working session was specifically dedicated to presenting the Ministry of Environment's vision for waste management and valorization in the Greater Tunis area, including the proposal to launch a call for applications targeting investors wishing to work in this field.
Minister's Statement
The Minister of Environment emphasized that the installation of these units will be done in close coordination with the Ministry of Interior, after studying the files and publishing the calls for tenders. He added that the ministry will provide the necessary technical framework and support to ensure the realization of these projects in the best conditions and deadlines.
Socio-Economic Approach
He specified that this project is part of a socio-economic green and circular approach, which takes into account environmental aspects and ensures the prevention of any negative impact on the environment.
Attendees
The meeting was attended by the Governor of Tunis, Imad Boukhris, the Governor of Ariana, Walid Sendid, the Governor of Manouba, Mahmoud Chaïb, as well as a representative of the governorate of Ben Arous. Also present were delegates and secretaries general of the municipalities of Greater Tunis, as well as officials from the Ministry of Interior, the National Waste Management Agency (ANGED), and the Ministry of Environment.
