Tunisian Association of SOS Children's Villages Honors Outstanding Students
The Tunisian Association of SOS Children's Villages organized a ceremony today, Friday, in the capital, to celebrate the Day of Science under the theme "SOS Laureates Day", to pay tribute to 147 outstanding children and young people who have excelled in their academic and training paths. These young people come from SOS Children's Villages (Gammarth, Siliana, Mahres, and Akouda) as well as family support offices (Al-Ala and Hassi El Farid), for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The National Director of the Tunisian Association of SOS Children's Villages, Achraf Saïdi, explained that this festive event aims to motivate the children and young people cared for by the association to redouble their efforts and excel in their educational paths. The association is convinced of the paramount importance of knowledge, considering it the only way to progress, social development, and autonomy.
On this occasion, Achraf Saïdi called on citizens to further support the association to ensure the school, university, and training enrollment of more than 5,268 students and students at all stages of their education. The cost of this enrollment is estimated at more than 2.741 million dinars to provide school supplies (bags, notebooks, books, pens, etc.) and clothing (dresses, sports uniforms, shoes, etc.).
He also emphasized that it is possible to participate in the challenge "Sow hope, act for good, and contribute to the education of a child" by making an online donation via the link http://sosve.tn/don-en-ligne/ or by bank or postal transfer to the association's and villages' accounts, whose details are available on the official website www.sosve.tn.
Saïdi specified that the association depends mainly on donations and contributions from its supporters, whether institutions or individuals, which represent nearly 90% of its budget. The Ministry of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly contributes around 10% of the total budget.
It is worth noting that the academic success rate of children and young people cared for by the association, during the last academic and university year, reached 74%. Moreover, 95% of higher education students achieved excellent results, and the success rate in the baccalaureate exam reached 67%.
