Vice‑President of the Consumer Defense Organization (ODC Calls for Consumer Vigilance Against Monopoly Practices
Thouraya Tabassi, Vice‑President of the Consumer Defense Organization (ODC), emphasized this Friday the importance of citizen awareness and their role in combating monopolies on consumer goods, such as subsidised vegetable oil. She urged consumers to “refuse any overpricing, including conditioned sales, and report such practices to the organization’s regional offices or the economic control authorities.”
During a telephone interview on Jawhara FM, the ODC’s Vice‑President added that “economic and sanitary control campaigns have been launched.” She confirmed that large quantities of unfit‑for‑consumption products were seized one week before Ramadan, as part of the preparations for the holy month.
Finally, she encouraged citizens to take advantage of the current sales season to stock up for Eid, noting that “although the cost of living affects all products, citizen vigilance remains crucial in this regard.”
