Omra and Hajj Commission President Stresses Importance of Contract for Pilgrims

The President of the Omra and Hajj Commission of the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies (FTAV), Mohamed Elias Ben Othmane, emphasized today, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the need for a contract between pilgrims and travel agencies for the Omra pilgrimage, stating that this contract is mandatory for participation in the Omra journey.

During his intervention on the radio show "It's Happening in Tunisia and the World" on National Radio, Ben Othmane affirmed that the Omra contract protects the rights of pilgrims as it contains all the details of the trip, including prices, hotel and accommodation, airline, and services provided.

Ben Othmane highlighted the fact that Omra has become a means of fraud and illegal brokerage. He called on citizens wishing to perform the Omra rites to go to travel agencies authorized by the Ministries of Religious Affairs and Tourism to organize these trips, specifying that the list of legal agencies is available on the Federation's official website.

The National Radio guest also mentioned the existence of a commission within the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies dedicated to receiving complaints from pilgrims who have been victims of fraud, abuse, or have observed excesses by travel agencies.

The President of the Omra and Hajj Commission of the Federation of Travel Agencies finally emphasized that the profession suffers from the presence of intruders.
