Tunisian Wafa Masghouni Wins Gold Medal at World Taekwondo U21 Championships
Tunisian athlete Wafa Masghouni won the gold medal today, Saturday, at the World Taekwondo U21 Championships held in Nairobi, Kenya. She dominated the under 62 kg category, defeating Spanish athlete Elsa Sicanell in the final. On her path to the championship title, Masghouni eliminated Kazakh athlete Ayolém Askar in the round of 16, Brazilian athlete Rafaela Di in the quarterfinals, and Russian athlete Anastasia Panova in the semifinals. With this achievement, Wafa Masghouni adds a new world medal to her record, following her gold medal wins at the:
- World Junior Championships in South Korea in 2024
- World Senior Championships in China in 2025
- World Women's Championships in Equatorial Guinea in 2025, where she won a bronze medal Masghouni's victory brings the total number of medals won by Tunisia in these World U21 Championships to two, after her compatriot Moatez Ifaoui previously won a bronze medal in the over 87 kg category.
