Partial Traffic Diversion Implemented at La Charguia Bridge

Khaled Atrach, Director General of Bridges and Roads, announced that as part of the ongoing extension project of the southern entrance to the capital (lot number 2), a partial traffic diversion has been put in place at the La Charguia (Lacagna) bridge starting from Thursday, October 30, 2025.

New Bridge Construction and Traffic Modification

Atrach explained that a new bridge will be built to accompany the expansion. The works required modifying the traffic flow for users coming from the southern suburbs towards La Charguia, Tunis City, and Bizerte. A new branch has been created, signage has been installed, and information has been disseminated.

User Awareness and Caution

He emphasized that road users have not yet gotten used to using the new route, urging them to avoid congestion at the intersection by keeping right for those heading towards Bizerte via the capital, as well as those heading towards Bab Alioua.

Duration of Traffic Diversion

He specified that this traffic diversion will continue for two months, until the completion of the works.

Reminder of Ministerial Guidelines

As a reminder, the Ministry of Equipment had called on road users to exercise caution and respect road signs. It also reminded truck drivers of the need to comply with the decision to ban circulation in the capital during morning and evening peak hours.
