Two Security Personnel Killed in Accident at Hong Kong International Airport
Two security personnel at Hong Kong International Airport were killed on Monday morning when a cargo plane from Dubai veered off the runway during landing, striking their patrol vehicle before coming to a stop in the water, the airport operator announced. This is the most severe aviation accident to occur in Hong Kong in over twenty-five years.

The four crew members of the AirACT Boeing 747 were rescued. The partially submerged aircraft came to a stop in a water-surrounded area near the runway.
Response and Investigation
Steven Yiu, Director of Operations at the Hong Kong Airport Authority, stated that the two security officers showed no signs of life when they were pulled from the water by rescue teams. One of the officers was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second officer died in the hospital. An investigation is underway to determine the exact causes of the accident, which occurred at around 3:50 am (19:50 GMT). According to Steven Yiu, airport operations were not disrupted.
