Two Police Officers Killed and Two Injured in Shooting at Turkish Police Station
Two police officers were shot and killed, and two others were injured on Monday at a police station near the large Turkish city of Izmir, in the western part of the country, announced Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Details of the Incident
According to Ali Yerlikaya, one of the injured police officers is in critical condition, and a 16-year-old suspect has been apprehended. Turkish television stations have broadcast images of a police cordon in front of the police station where the attack took place on Monday morning. A video recorded by a resident and shared by several Turkish media outlets shows a young man with his face hidden holding a long-barreled rifle and apparently fleeing the scene of the attack.
Investigation and Reactions
The Turkish Minister of Justice has announced the opening of an investigation into the incident.

"I condemn the heinous attack on the Salih Isgören police station in Balçova," said Izmir Mayor Cemil Tugay on X.
