Sweden and Tunisia Strengthen Economic Cooperation

The Swedish Embassy in Tunisia announced a new stage of economic cooperation with Tunisia this week, aiming to strengthen trade in services and stimulate growth. As part of this effort, Swedish Ambassador Cecilia Wramsten received a delegation from the World Bank, which is engaged in the "Trade in Services for Development" project, conducted in partnership with the Tunisian Ministry of Trade.

Project Objectives

The project, co-financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), aims to identify and address obstacles hindering trade in services, creating a more fluid, competitive, and growth-conducive economic environment.

Key Initiatives

In the framework of this initiative, a workshop dedicated to trade in services brought together public and private sector stakeholders from Tunisia, fostering exchanges and discussions on measures to modernize the sector. During the opening, Swedish Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Joakim Svahn emphasized the strategic role of trade in services as a driver of economic modernization and a source of opportunities for Tunisia.

Commitment to Cooperation

The Swedish Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Tunisia in realizing its economic potential, stimulating job creation, and building sustainable bridges between the Swedish and Tunisian economies. This cooperation reflects a shared desire to support reforms, improve competitiveness, and encourage investment in the services sector, considered a key lever for the country's economic development.

Partnership and Inclusivity

The project, with its partnership-based approach and inclusive methodology, marks an important step towards a more integrated and performing trade in services, contributing to strengthening Tunisia's position in regional and international value chains.
