Tunisian Ambassador to Tokyo Participates in Cultural Event to Promote Arabic Language and Tunisian Culture
The Tunisian Ambassador to Tokyo, Ahmed Chafra, participated on November 21 in the opening of a cultural event organized at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS), as part of efforts to promote the Arabic language and Tunisian culture in Japan.
According to a publication by the embassy released on Monday, November 24, 2025, on its official Facebook page, this event is part of a series of diplomatic initiatives aimed at strengthening the presence of the Arabic language in Japanese universities.
On the sidelines of the event, the ambassador held several meetings with members of the TUFS faculty to discuss the progress of Arabic language teaching programs and explore development prospects. The discussions also focused on coordinating the embassy's participation in the Arabic Reading Contest, scheduled for December on the occasion of World Arabic Language Day. Ahmed Chafra had chaired the jury of this contest in the previous edition.
Additionally, the ambassador met with a group of Japanese students who are preparing to join the Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages (IBLV) in Tunisia. He presented them with an overview of university life in the country, the academic programs offered, and the opportunities for integration into the Tunisian student community.
