Tunisian Taekwondo Athlete Wafa Masghouni Wins World Championship Title
In her first global participation among seniors, 17-year-old Tunisian Wafa Masghouni has been crowned world champion in the -62 kg category, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. She won the final of the World Taekwondo Championship in China against Hungarian Olympic champion and world number one, MARTON Viviana, with a score of two rounds to zero (7:7/0:0), thus offering Tunisia a new world gold medal in this championship. Previously, champion Wafa Masghouni had successfully qualified for the final of the -62 kg category by defeating Australian Gabriella BLEWITT, also by two rounds to zero (17:5/12:2). With this title, the national taekwondo team's record rises to two gold medals, after that of world champion Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi in the under 63 kg category.
