Tunisian Tourism Sector Sees Notable Improvement
The president of the Tunisian Federation of Travel and Tourism Agencies (FTAV), Ahmed Bettaieb, stated that the Tunisian tourism sector is experiencing a significant evolution this year, marked by an improvement in visitor satisfaction and competitive pricing.
Speaking on Express FM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Bettaieb highlighted that the 2025 season is significantly better than the previous one, indicating that the tourist satisfaction rate has reached 7 out of 10, compared to a general average of 6.5 out of 10. He described this result as encouraging, while acknowledging the need to address certain shortcomings.
Among the sector's priorities, he emphasized the importance of developing direct air links to new markets, particularly the Chinese market, in order to diversify the tourist clientele. He recalled that Tunisia has various assets, citing Djerba as a gateway to the desert, a destination that illustrates, in his opinion, the potential for tourism beyond traditional beach tourism.
The president of the FTAV also highlighted efforts to enrich the Tunisian tourist offer, notably through the organization of the 2nd edition of the World Oasis and Desert Salon, scheduled to take place from December 1 to 5, 2025, with the participation of over 70 countries.
He estimated that this type of event is essential for promoting sustainable and off-season tourism.
Ahmed Bettaieb concluded by stating that "the numbers are not the most important thing. What matters is that the tourist is satisfied and happy with the services offered to them."
