The Ministry of Equipment has strengthened control over offenses on the public road network and plans to impose stricter sanctions on offenders, announced Ali Ben Mohamed, Director of Road Operation and Maintenance, on Monday, September 8, 2025, during his intervention on National Radio.
Background

The pre-2017 Tunisian legislation was deemed insufficiently deterrent, prompting a reform to strengthen sanctions. In total, 19 offenses are now concerned.
New Sanctions
The Director cited a few examples:
- Dumping construction waste carries a fine of 1,100 dinars
- Prohibited parking is sanctioned with 330 dinars The governorates have received strict instructions to apply these provisions.
Payment and Contestation Procedures
In case of non-payment of the fine within a month, it will be doubled. The payment can be made via the Ministry of Finance's platform. Any potential disputes over fines fall under the administration of the Road Operation and Maintenance.
Ministry's Commitment
The Ministry emphasizes its commitment to protecting the public road network and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of national infrastructure.
