Tunisia’s Embassy in Riyadh Reassures Community on Visa and Pilgrimage Situation
Riyadh, 13 March 2026 – Acting Chargé d’Affaires at the Tunisian Embassy in Riyadh, Moez Gara Ali, announced on Friday that the embassy has received 235 urgent visa requests, all of which have been approved by Saudi authorities.
How to Obtain a Saudi Tourist Visa
-
Residents of Gulf countries bordering Saudi Arabia can apply for a tourist visa:
- Via the electronic visa platform, or
- By contacting the Saudi embassies in their country of residence to enter through land border checkpoints.
-
Non‑residents may also request visas through Tunisian embassies located in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Iraq.
Situation of Pilgrims (Umrah)
-
The diplomat stressed that no major issues are reported. Flights through Jeddah Airport are operating normally, and coordination with travel agencies remains continuous.
-
For pilgrims who were initially stranded, Gara Ali explained that they had arrived in Saudi Arabia on indirect flights (stopovers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi) that were later cancelled. The ministry intervened promptly, enabling the repatriation of 172 pilgrims back to Tunisia.
Outlook for Ramadan
- Umrah trips from Tunisia continue as travel agencies keep processing bookings.
- The number of pilgrims expected for the Ramadan month is projected to be very high.
Overall Safety
- Gara Ali reiterated that all Tunisians in Saudi Arabia—whether residents or pilgrims—are safe.
- He described the situation as stable, with daily life proceeding almost normally.
