Tunisia Receives New Maritime Tugboat to Enhance Port Services

The Office of Merchant Marine and Ports (OMMP) took delivery of its first new maritime tugboat, the "Bulla Regia", last Friday at the port of La Goulette, as part of a program to acquire six units aimed at modernizing port services. The remaining five tugboats will be delivered progressively by the end of January 2026.

Investment and Objectives

This investment, totaling 168 million dinars, aims to renew the national fleet of tugboats to ensure secure navigation of ships in port waters, while strengthening the safety of facilities. It will also guarantee rapid intervention capacity in emergency situations, particularly for towing, assistance, search, and rescue operations.

Strategic Context

The project is part of a broader strategy of energy transition and ecological adaptation, tailored to the new logistical requirements of international commercial ships. It also aims to reduce operating costs and strengthen the national device for protecting the Tunisian coast.
