Tunisian Pilgrims Performing Hajj Reportedly in Good Health
May 27, 2026
According to the General Coordinator of the Health Mission, Dr. Mohamed Soussi, Tunisian pilgrims performing the Hajj are reportedly in good health. However, he emphasized the need for vigilance due to the high influx of people and challenging climate conditions.
Speaking on the National Radio on the first day of Eid al-Adha, Dr. Soussi stated that the overall health of Tunisian pilgrims is satisfactory, despite some cases of fatigue and exhaustion, which are considered normal in a densely populated context. He noted that over two million people are currently present at the holy sites, leading to difficulties in circulation and physical exertion.
Dr. Soussi advised pilgrims to avoid large crowds and group travel, respect their medical treatments, stay hydrated regularly, and use umbrellas or sun protection to minimize exposure to extreme heat. He also stressed the importance of taking sufficient rest periods to preserve pilgrims' physical capabilities and prevent heat stress and exhaustion.
The Tunisian Health Mission continues to monitor the health status of pilgrims daily, amidst challenging climate conditions and high population density at the Hajj sites.
Key Recommendations:
- Avoid large crowds and group travel
- Respect medical treatments
- Stay hydrated regularly
- Use sun protection (umbrellas, etc.)
- Take sufficient rest periods to prevent heat stress and exhaustion
