Tunisia and Malta Prepare for 12th Session of Joint Commission

Tunisia and Malta are gearing up to host the 12th session of their joint commission, focusing on transportation, maritime fishing, and economic exchanges, according to Tunisian Ambassador to Malta, Zoubeir Bouras.

In a statement to the Tunisian National Radio, the diplomat highlighted that the trade balance between the two countries has shown a favorable surplus for Tunisia, thanks to the export of food products, mechanical, and electronic goods.

Bouras also emphasized the success of Tunisian olive oil on the Maltese market, which he believes demonstrates the competitiveness of Tunisian products on European markets.

The ambassador further stressed the strong historical and cultural ties between the two countries, citing their geographical proximity as a factor in establishing a "human and civilizational bridge" between the two shores.

According to Bouras, the Tunisian community in Malta numbers around 1,000 people, including professionals, students, and skilled workers. He noted an increase in the number of Tunisian students choosing Malta for higher education, particularly in fields such as communication, finance, and modern technologies.

Bouras mentioned the creation of the "Ponts de l'Espoir" (Bridges of Hope) association, aimed at strengthening ties between the Tunisian community in Malta and the authorities of both countries, while promoting Tunisia's image through cultural and economic activities.
