Tunisia Strengthens Its Presence in West Africa Through MEDPHARMA Africa 2026

In the context of the 4th edition of MEDPHARMA Africa 2026, held in Abidjan from April 23 to 25, 2026, the Centre de Promotion des Exportations (CEPEX) conducted a commercial prospecting mission on behalf of Tunisian companies operating in the parapharmaceutical and dietary supplement sectors. The initiative aims to strengthen Tunisia's presence in the sub-Saharan African market and consolidate its role as a strategic partner in the health sector.

The mission facilitated over 120 B2B meetings with key players in the Ivorian and regional pharmaceutical industry, including more than 30 local operators. These intense exchanges provided Tunisian companies with the opportunity to explore concrete partnerships and identify new commercial opportunities.

In parallel, several high-level institutional meetings were held with officials from strategic organizations, including the Ivorian Pharmaceutical Regulation Authority, the National Council of the Order of Pharmacists in Côte d'Ivoire, and the Abidjan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These meetings allowed for discussions on regulatory frameworks, cooperation prospects, and access to the Ivorian market.

The discussions highlighted the significant potential of the African health market, estimated at over $50 billion. In Côte d'Ivoire, local production covers only about 7% of national needs for medicines, while more than 40% of medical products are regularly out of stock, creating significant opportunities for foreign operators.

This mission is part of the CEPEX's promotional program for 2026 and illustrates Tunisia's strategy to value its industrial expertise and strengthen its presence on high-potential African markets, particularly in West Africa.
