Tunisia's Fruit Exports Reach $45.8 Million in First Five Months of 2026

According to data from the Groupement Interprofessionnel des Fruits (GIFOEX), Tunisia's fruit exports have reached approximately $45.8 million (45.8 million dinars) from January to May 2026. This represents a significant increase compared to the same period in 2025, when exports totaled $38.5 million (38.5 million dinars).

India Remains a Promising Market

While Indian imports have been limited to 146 tons of blueberries (canneberges) worth $4.5 million (4.5 million dinars), this confirms the existence of promising export opportunities for high-value-added fruits. These fruits deserve closer attention and investment in the future.

Tunisia Exports to 23 Markets Worldwide

During the first five months of 2026, Tunisia has exported various quantities of fruit varieties to approximately 23 markets around the world. These markets have absorbed 12 types of fruits, renowned for their taste and flavor, which are highly prized internationally.

Libya and UAE Lead in Fruit Imports

The indicators show a variation in the geographical distribution of exports according to markets and volumes. The Libyan market has maintained its position as the largest buyer of Tunisian fruits in terms of volume, absorbing 1,967 tons worth $9.601 million (9.601 million dinars).

The UAE market ranks second in terms of volume with 543 tons, but it leads in terms of financial revenue, generating $12.143 million (12.143 million dinars).

France, Italy, and India Follow

Peaches, Plums, and Apricots Drive Revenue

At the level of fruit types exported, certain varieties have recorded excellent performances in terms of economic value due to the increase in their prices on global markets. Tunisia has also sold quantities of strawberries worth $12.554 million (12.554 million dinars), corresponding to an export volume of approximately 604 tons.
