Tunisia’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi Announces New Procedures to Facilitate Citizens’ Return

Abu Dhabi, 10 March 2026 – The Tunisian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has issued a statement outlining fresh procedures aimed at simplifying the repatriation of Tunisian nationals who are currently residing in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and in other areas covered by its consular jurisdiction, notably Al‑Aïn and Al‑Dhafra.

Who is affected?

The measure applies to Tunisians who entered the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on tourist visas or family‑visit visas and now wish to return to Tunisia on flights departing from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

How to apply

  • Submit a request by e‑mail to the embassy at abou@diplomatie.gov.tn.
  • Attach the following documents:
    1. A copy of your passport.
    2. A copy of the UAE visa issued to you.
    3. Proof that you are presently located within the embassy’s consular district.
      • For tourist‑visa holders: a hotel reservation or other accommodation proof.
      • For family‑visit visa holders: a rental contract or similar document.
  • Optional (but recommended):
    • A copy of your air‑ticket reservation or details of the planned travel itinerary.
    • A phone number for direct contact or a WhatsApp number.

What happens after submission?

The embassy will forward the applications to the relevant Saudi Arabian authorities, in coordination with the Tunisian diplomatic mission in Riyadh. The goal is to secure exceptional transit visas for land border crossings between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, enabling the affected citizens to continue their journey and fly back to Tunisia.
