Tunisian Dam Fill Rate Reaches 28.7% as of September 15, 2025
The fill rate of Tunisian dams has been established at 28.7% as of September 15, 2025. The total water reserves retained in these dams are estimated at 679.6 million cubic meters (Mm³), representing a 26% increase compared to the average of the last three years, according to recently published data by the ONAGRI.
Distribution of Water Reserves
The distribution of water reserves is as follows:
- 91.9% for dams in the north
- 6.3% for dams in the center
- 1.8% for dams in the Cap-Bon region
Fill Rate of Major Dams
According to the ONAGRI, the fill rate has reached:
- 23.3% for the Sidi Salem dam in Béja
- 41.6% for the Sidi el-Barrak dam, also located in Béja, which, along with Sidi Salem, are the two largest dams in the country
Water Inflows to Dams
The water inflows to dams were 7.7 million cubic meters for the period from September 1 to 15, 2025, recording a decrease of:
- 68% compared to the same period of the previous year (24.1 million cubic meters)
- 81.4% compared to the average of this period (41.4 million cubic meters)
Distribution of Water Inflows
The distribution of these inflows is mainly in the:
- North (75.3%)
- Center (23.4%)
- Cap-Bon (1.3%)
