Tunisian Dam Fill Rate Reaches 28.7% as of September 15, 2025
The fill rate of Tunisian dams has been established at 28.7% as of September 15, 2025. The total water reserves retained in these dams are estimated at 679.6 million cubic meters (Mm³), representing a 26% increase compared to the average of the last three years, according to recently published data by the ONAGRI.
Distribution of Water Reserves
The distribution of water reserves is as follows:
- 91.9% for dams in the north
- 6.3% for dams in the center
- 1.8% for dams in the Cap-Bon region
Fill Rate of Major Dams
According to the ONAGRI, the fill rate has reached:
- 23.3% for the Sidi Salem dam in Béja
- 41.6% for the Sidi el-Barrak dam, also located in Béja These two dams, Sidi Salem and Sidi el-Barrak, are the largest in the country.
Water Inflows to Dams
The water inflows to dams were 7.7 million cubic meters for the period from September 1 to 15, 2025, recording a:
- 68% decrease compared to the same period of the previous year (24.1 million cubic meters)
- 81.4% decrease compared to the average of this period (41.4 million cubic meters)
Distribution of Water Inflows
The distribution of water inflows is mainly in the:
- North (75.3%)
- Center (23.4%)
- Cap-Bon (1.3%)
