The next step in Tunisian-Algerian bilateral relations should focus on establishing new mechanisms to consecrate and strengthen economic integration between the two countries, for the benefit of both peoples. This was the outcome of a meeting held on Saturday between Tunisian Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, and his Algerian counterpart, Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Tayeb Zitouni.

This meeting took place as part of the Tunisian minister's visit to Algeria on the occasion of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), held from September 4 to 10. The discussion centered on ways to develop Tunisian-Algerian trade exchanges and remove obstacles hindering the circulation of goods in both directions, according to a statement from the Ministry of Trade.
Key Agreements
The two parties agreed to work towards increasing the volume of trade exchanges, in line with the orientations of the leaders of the two countries, taking into account the strong and historical relations between Tunisia and Algeria. The ministers emphasized the importance of intensifying bilateral meetings to overcome trade obstacles, exchange expertise, and jointly target African markets, in order to open up new opportunities for exporters from both countries.
