Tunisian Travel Market Kicks Off in Tunis
The first edition of the Tunisian Travel Market was inaugurated on Thursday at the City of Culture in Tunis, with the aim of strengthening domestic and local tourism, while encouraging the culture of advance booking.
Speaking on the occasion, Tourism Minister Sofiane Tekaya announced the introduction of preferential tariffs that can reach up to 55% in certain hotels. This initiative is part of a national policy aimed at controlling costs and prices, in collaboration with industry professionals.
The minister highlighted that tourists from neighboring countries, particularly Algeria and Libya, as well as local tourists, account for more than 50% of Tunisia's tourist activity. He emphasized the importance of giving special attention to these segments and improving the quality of services offered to them.
Moreover, he noted that Tunisia remains an attractive international tourist destination due to its diverse offerings. The country's coastal tourism, boasting over 1,700 kilometers of coastline, is a major asset that needs to be consolidated to enhance the competitiveness of the Tunisian destination.
