Tunisia to Revolutionize Car Insurance System with "Assurance Auto 2.0"
Tunisia is set to modernize its car insurance system with the imminent launch of the "Assurance Auto 2.0" program, announced Jouda Khemiri, President of the General Insurance Committee (CGA), on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The goal is to digitize all procedures, from issuing certificates to drafting accident reports, using a single QR code card (macaron) accessible from a smartphone.
Key Objectives of the Project
This strategic project, led by the Presidency of the Government, is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministries of Transport, Interior, Finance, and the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (Ftusa). The main objectives are to:
- Centralize all vehicle data on a single digital platform
- Simplify procedures
- Strengthen transparency
- Combat fraud
Digitalization of the Sector
During her intervention on Express FM, Khemiri specified that this reform is part of a broader effort to digitalize the sector. The committee is working on two main axes:
- Reinforcing its regulatory role (with digitization of licenses, documents, and exchanges)
- Improving collaboration with insurance companies, particularly through shared platforms
Legal Framework for Remote Insurance Services
In parallel, a legal framework for remote insurance services is being developed. This text, currently being examined by Parliament, will allow telephone operators to act as intermediaries, promoting financial inclusion and expanding access to insurance services across the country.
