Meeting Held to Discuss Progress of Road Doubling Project
A working session was held on Friday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Equipment and Housing, dedicated to monitoring the progress of the project to double Regional Road No. 117 over a length of 6.3 kilometers, connecting the Roman Road Djerba-Zarzis.
Presiding over the meeting, the Minister of Equipment and Housing, Slah Zouari, emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of work and mobilize all logistical and human resources to ensure the completion of the project within the agreed-upon deadlines.
According to the ministry's official Facebook page, an additional deadline has been granted to the group of companies in charge of the site to intensify the execution rate and ensure the continuity of work until the project is put into service, in all its components: public lighting, bituminous concrete paving, and road signage.
The minister also insisted on the implementation of all necessary safety and protection measures to ensure the fluidity of traffic and the safety of road users.
Project Overview
The project involves the construction of a two-way carriageway, consisting of two 7-meter lanes for entry and exit to the island of Djerba, separated by a central public lighting system along the entire length of the section. It also includes the doubling of the existing bridge at kilometer point 24.8, bituminous concrete paving, horizontal and vertical signage, as well as the installation of road safety equipment.
The total cost of the project is estimated at 48 million dinars.
