Tunisia Ranks Second in Olive Oil Production and Leads in Organic Olive Oil Exports
Tunisia has secured the second position, after Spain, in olive oil production and is at the top of the list of organic olive oil exporters, according to Saliha Boubakri, representative of the Directorate of Agricultural Production. This was announced during a seminar held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, on the risks in the olive and olive oil sector and ways to control them.
In a statement to the National Radio News, Saliha Boubakri confirmed that Tunisia provides approximately 6.5% of global production. She also specified that agricultural farms in the olive sector cover 60% of total farms, with over 120 million olive trees spread across more than 2 million hectares.
The sector employs 20% of the workforce, and olive oil exports reach 200,000 tonnes, with average revenues of around 2,180 million dinars.
