Growing Importance of Cybersecurity in the Face of Digital Threats

The head of the judicial police department at the Ministry of Interior, Sahbi Omri, emphasized on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the increasing importance of cybersecurity in the face of digital threats that weigh on individuals, institutions, and national security. Speaking on the airwaves of Diwan FM, Omri asserted that the digital space has become an essential component of our daily lives, warning against the real dangers that cyberattacks pose to citizen security, social stability, and state sovereignty. These statements were made on the sidelines of the First National Conference on Cybercrime in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, organized by the Ministry of Interior.

A Strategy Focused on Prevention, Training, and Cooperation

According to Sahbi Omri, the ministry's strategy is based on three major axes:

  • Raising public awareness
  • Training national skills in the field of cybersecurity
  • Cooperating with public and private sectors, both nationally and internationally "The fight against cybercrime cannot be done without collective mobilization, including security institutions, experts, universities, and companies," he specified.

He also recalled that cybercrimes include all criminal acts that can be committed through the Internet, such as:

  • Hacking of personal or institutional accounts
  • Theft of banking or personal data
  • Online blackmail
  • Cyberattacks against companies and sensitive infrastructure
  • Spreading false information or misleading content

It is worth noting that the conference aims to strengthen national digital security and create a framework for cooperation between the various actors involved in the fight against these growing threats.
