Chinese Vice-President of the National Advisory Political Council Visits Tunisian Industrial Unit

The Vice-President of the Chinese National Advisory Political Council and President of the Sino-African Friendship Group, Mo Hong, visited the Jetty Automotive Technology industrial unit on Wednesday evening, November 26, 2025. The unit, which specializes in the manufacture of automotive cables and associated technologies, is located in the Borj Cedria industrial zone in the Ben Arous governorate.

Official Visit to Tunisia

During his official visit to Tunisia from November 26 to 28, Mo Hong met with the group's executives and their representatives in Tunisia. They presented him with the company's activities at the national and international levels through this unit, which constitutes the group's first investment in Tunisia.

Promising Investment Model

Mo Hong praised a "promising investment model" in Tunisia, expressing his desire to strengthen this experience and encourage more Chinese companies to explore the opportunities offered by the country.

Tunisian-Chinese Cooperation

For his part, the Director-General of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA-Tunisia), Jalel Tebib, highlighted the important prospects for Tunisian-Chinese cooperation, recalling that China is now Tunisia's second-largest supplier. He emphasized the country's industrial attractiveness, considered one of the most competitive in Africa and the Mediterranean, thanks to its qualified workforce, which has already enabled 25 Chinese companies to establish themselves in Tunisia.

Future Investments

Tebib also expressed hope to see these investments double, in line with China's global economic position and Tunisia's comparative advantages, particularly in the automotive component industry.

Jetty Automotive Technology

It is worth noting that the Chinese company Jetty Automotive Technology inaugurated a new unit for the manufacture of automotive cables in the Borj Cedria industrial zone on Monday, September 8. This unit produces 15,000 automotive cables per month, exported to the European market for clients working with major manufacturers such as Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen, Chery, and other world-renowned brands.

Expansion Plans

According to a source within the company, Jetty Automotive Technology plans to launch a new 40,000 m² industrial unit in the short term, offering up to 5,000 jobs as part of its expansion plan. The company also aims to open up to the Maghreb market in the coming years.

Job Creation and Integration

Technical estimates predict that the current unit will reach 1,000 jobs by the end of 2026, allowing for the integration of Tunisian skills in a growing sector thanks to investment in advanced automotive technologies.

National Automotive Sector

The establishment of new foreign industries is part of a broader strategy to structure a true national automotive sector. This dynamic could not only favor the introduction of advanced technologies but also contribute to increasing the competitiveness of Tunisian exports. The country has indeed worked in recent years to improve its economic attractiveness through targeted reforms and tax incentives encouraging foreign direct investment (FDI).

Diversification of Industrial Landscape

The growing presence of European companies, now joined by groups from Asia, testifies to the expansion of Tunisia's industrial landscape and the gradual diversification of its export markets.
