Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia Calls for Increased Support to Economic Actors
The Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), Fethi Zouheir Nouri, has urged banking institutions to intensify their efforts to support actors in the production, processing, and marketing chain, with the aim of revitalizing the economic cycle and supporting exports.
Speaking at a meeting held on October 7, 2025, at the BCT headquarters, dedicated to examining the financing mechanisms for the 2025-2026 olive oil campaign, Mr. Nouri also encouraged banks to support investment in all economic sectors, emphasizing the need to improve the quality of financial services, strengthen financing operation monitoring, and ensure better coordination between financial institutions.
Representatives of the banking sector present at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to supporting olive sector actors, ensuring the necessary financing to guarantee the smooth running of the campaign. They highlighted their willingness to contribute to market stability and support the state's efforts to strengthen the presence of Tunisian olive oil on traditional markets and conquer new ones.
Furthermore, the banks committed to examining the situation of indebted operators who faced difficulties during the previous campaign, with a view to providing a lasting solution to debt management.
