Italian Ambassador Visits Tunisian Textile Company Sartex
As part of a system mission to Monastir and Mahdia, the Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Mr. Alessandro Prunas, accompanied by Tunisian-Italian and Italian development and trade officials, visited the Tunisian textile company Sartex.
Thanks to the adoption of Italian technologies, Sartex has implemented a water purification and reuse system for the water used in the washing and dyeing processes, significantly reducing its water consumption. This project is a concrete example of innovation and industrial cooperation between Italy and Tunisia, with high added value, within the framework of the circular economy, a sector in which Italy is recognized as one of the world leaders.
The reuse of non-conventional water is a strategic priority shared by Italy and Tunisia. In the agricultural sector, this approach is integrated into the TANIT program of the Mattei plan, the largest Italian cooperation project ever launched in Tunisia, aiming to address the effects of climate change and ensure food security.
The experience of Sartex demonstrates that this priority can be applied concretely to industrial partnerships, where institutions, development cooperation, and the productive sector collaborate in an integrated manner to address major environmental challenges.
This project illustrates the common commitment of Italy and Tunisia to innovation, sustainability, and resource efficiency, thus consolidating bilateral cooperation in the industrial and environmental fields.
