Tunisia Celebrates National Family Day

Tunisia celebrates National Family Day every year on December 11th. This occasion allows the country to reaffirm its efforts to further elevate the status of the family, improve its conditions, and consolidate its central role in society, in accordance with the provisions of Article 12 of the Constitution, which states that "The family is the fundamental cell of society and the State protects it," according to a statement from the Ministry of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly, released on Thursday.

The Importance of Family

The Ministry added that the family, through the values and shared responsibility it embodies, is the cradle of human values such as mutual respect, dialogue, cooperation, and role-sharing. It is also the ideal space for healthy and balanced education of generations and for the roots of the culture of work, citizenship, and gathering around the supreme interest of the Nation.

Scientific Colloquium and National Plans

The Ministry announced that on this occasion, a scientific colloquium will be organized at the Center for Research, Studies, Documentation, and Information on Women (CREDIF) to announce the axes of the National Family Cohesion Plan by 2035 and the Executive Plan for Preparation and Qualification for Conjugal and Family Life.

Commitment to Family Policies

The Ministry of Family, Women, and Children emphasized that these projects are part of the commitment to develop public policies related to family affairs as a whole, and to support programs and mechanisms that ensure the improvement of family members' capabilities and contribute to expanding their economic and social integration, thus consecrating the social role of the State in supporting and improving family conditions.
