Tunisia to Participate in Senior Karate World Championship in Egypt
Tunisia will participate in the Senior Karate World Championship in Egypt from November 27 to 30 with a team of five athletes, according to information provided by the Technical Director of the Tunisian Karate Federation, Mohamed Amine El Hasnaoui.
Team Composition
The Tunisian karate team will be represented by two female athletes, Wafa Mahjoub (under 61 kg) and Israa Baltayeb (under 68 kg), under the supervision of women's coach Saber Krio. The male team will consist of Mohamed Ayat (under 60 kg), Ahmed Rayen Tlili (under 75 kg), and Rayen Ghazouani (under 84 kg), under the supervision of men's coach Lotfi Rhiabi. The participation will be limited to individual Kumite events.
Preparation and Training
The Technical Director explained that the female duo will return to Tunisia on November 13 after participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games currently taking place in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. Meanwhile, Rayen Ghazouani and Mohamed Al-Ayat will continue their training in Tunisia before being joined by Ahmed Rayen Tlili, who is a professional athlete in Germany.
Intensive Training Camp
The five members of the national team will gather in Aïn Draham for an intensive and closed training camp from November 16 to 22, before departing for Egypt on November 25 to participate in the World Championship.
Objectives
Regarding the objectives of this participation in the World Championship, Mohamed Amine El Hasnaoui emphasized that Tunisia aims to reach the podium thanks to the experienced athlete Wafa Mahjoub. The World Championship also represents an opportunity for the other young athletes to gain experience in major competitions, with a view to future international events.
